The Sidoarjo Hot Mud Volcanoe is still spewing out hot mud.150,000 cubic meters of hot mud, every day for 18 months, with no signs of stopping.It occupies an area about 2 miles square, in spite of every available truck brought in to constuct a series of earth damsto contain the mud. All plant life has been poisoned, hundreds of thousands of people have fled their villages. The weight of the mud is causing the land to sink a little, in places.It is thought the mud is coming up from an area 5Km deep within the earth, and that the Mud might continue to flow for another 10-50 years.
The eruption is continuing with no hope of stopping. All in all it’s a huge disaster.
